AUSTRALIAN CARDIS CALLING was the title of a newsletter specifically for Cardigan Welsh
Corgi enthusiasts in Australia. It came into existence because of a lack of information about the
breed in the southern hemisphere due to distance from the northern hemisphere as well as
between the various States of Australia. It was recognised that if the breed was to continue to
progress, more information on the breed, not only in Australia, but also from around the world,
had to be made available to Australian enthusiasts.

It was first published in 1990 and its title was suggested by Mr W Johnson of Queensland who in
partnership with his wife, Kathy, bred Cardigan Welsh Corgis under the prefix JOHNWEY. Its
distinctive cover was drawn by a Queensland artist.

Its editors from inception were Mrs Jean Georgiou of RHOSSILI prefix and Mrs Betty Milne of
MILHOLM prefix. Mrs Georgiou is a Specialist judge of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi having judged
the breed throughout Australia, in England and New Zealand. She is also a licensed judge of all
Working Breeds and all Toy Breeds. The newsletter was published six times each year, much to
the delight of all who received it.

It was always the unwritten charter of the Editors that the newsletter should inform
enthusiasts of what is happening in the breed in Australia and around the world and that any
subscriber wishing to submit an item for publication on the breed should be able to do so as long
as such item was not based on argument or controversy. Subscriber enthusiasts were also able to
advertise their kennel or individual dogs free of charge.

The newsletter went out to enthusiasts in most States of Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain,
America, Canada and the Scandinavian Countries.
News and views about the Cardigan Welsh Corgi is now published by Australian Cardis Calling in the
NATIONAL DOG Newspaper which is issued monthly. This forum has a much wider coverage than
the newsletter and information on the breed is more up to date because it is supplied monthly
instead of bi-monthly.

Through the wonders of modern technology it has been decided that Australian Cardis Calling will
go onto the world wide web. Cardigan Welsh Corgi enthusiasts hope that as this website takes off,
breeders and interested people will contribute to it in the same manner as they did the
Newsletter.
